Ohio State women's basketball's Rikki Harris enters transfer portal

Ohio State guard Rikki Harris announced Wednesday that she is entering the transfer portal in pursuit of an "opportunity to play at my fullest potential."

"These last five years have been nothing less than a dream come true," Harris posted on Instagram. "Everything we have accomplished will be held close to my heart and I will always be grateful for the opportunity to be a Buckeye. ... Closing a chapter is never easy."

Rikki Harris averaged 5.7 points per game in four years at Ohio State.

Harris averaged 5.7 points per game in four years at Ohio State. In 2023, the Indianapolis native was named all-Big Ten honorable mention.

Following Ohio State's loss to Duke in the NCAA Tournament, Harris, who has one more year of eligibility remaining, was asked if she would be returning to the program.

"That's a coach question," Harris said.

Harris began her career at Ohio State alongside teammates Jacy Sheldon and Rebeka Mikulasikova in 2019 as the No. 24 recruit in espnW’s HoopGurlz rankings.

Before the start of this season, Harris and Sheldon revealed they had a pact, if one person stayed with the program, the other one did, too. It is expected that Sheldon has entered the WNBA draft since she's finished her college eligibility.

This marks the third Ohio State player to hit the transfer portal this offseason. Newark native Emma Shumate and freshman Diana Collins announced their decisions last week.
