Ohio State men's tennis pursuit of NCAA title begins with 4-0 victory over Cleveland State

The top-seeded Ohio State men’s tennis team's pursuit of its first NCAA title began with a 4-0 shutout of visiting Cleveland State on Friday.

The Buckeyes did not drop a set as they improved to 31-1 in dual matches this season.

Justin Boulais and Andrew Lutschaunig won their doubles set, as did Cannon Kingsley and J.J. Tracy, to win the doubles point for OSU.

Boulais, Tracy and Robert Cash won in straight sets to clinch the win over the Vikings (21-7), losing only eight games combined. Kingsley, Jack Anthrop and Alexander Bernard won the first set in their matches but didn’t finish after the outcome was decided.

Ohio State will play Oklahoma State in the second round Saturday at about 4 p.m. The Cowboys defeated Vanderbilt 4-1 in their first-round match.

The No. 12 Ohio State women’s team plays Toledo in its first-round match Saturday at about 1 p.m. following the 10 a.m. match between Vanderbilt and Wake Forest.
