Ohio State loses running back commitment for 2023 class
The Ohio State football program is down to 20 commitments for the 2023 class after losing its lone running back for the cycle on Wednesday.
Mark Fletcher Jr., out of American Heritage in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, committed to the Buckeyes on April 16. The 6-foot, 1-inch, 225-pounder is currently ranked as the No. 9 running back and 202nd overall prospect in the class according to the 247Sports composite.
Fletcher seemed pretty solid in his commitment until recently when the pull of remaining closer to home and perhaps in the Sunshine State has become a part of the rumblings. Florida and Miami (FL) appear to be in the lead to flip the South Florida native.
You can bet Ohio State will ratchet up its pursuit of other running back prospects in the 2023 class. In fact, the Buckeyes have been linked to a potential visit from five-star running back Rueben Owens out of Texas for the game against Michigan on Nov. 26, according to 247Sports.
