Odell Beckham Jr.’s knee surgery was done by Rams’ doctor, corrected a previous issue

As the Los Angeles Rams continue to weigh their options in free agency, Odell Beckham Jr. remains available. He has yet to sign with another team and while there’s mutual interest in a reunion with the Rams, that hasn’t come to fruition.

His torn ACL has complicated things, likely sidelining him for at least part of the 2022 season. The Rams should know better than anyone exactly the condition of Beckham’s knee because according to Ian Rapoport, it was the Rams’ team doctor who performed the surgery.

The procedure went well and it actually corrected an issue from a previous surgery Beckham underwent after he tore his ACL the first time.

“There is mutual interest and they know more about his knee than everyone else,” Rapoport said on the Pat McAfee Show. “Their team doctor did the surgery. Sounds like it went really well and actually corrected a previously bad surgery from a couple years ago.”

Rapoport said Beckham’s knee surgery with the Browns didn’t go as well as hoped, and for that reason, his knee was a concern when the Rams signed him last season because “it was not 100% healthy and I don’t think they would’ve given him a long-term deal just based on the knee because it was troubling.”

Thanks to this recent surgery, Rapoport says Beckham has probably extended his career because it corrected that previous issue. That’s good news for whichever team signs him, being the Rams or someone else.
