NY Giants vs. Washington Commanders predictions: Our expert Week 11 NFL picks

The Giants (2-8, last in NFC East) play their third consecutive road game when they take on the Washington Commanders (4-6, third in NFC East) on Sunday at FedEx Field.

After a 7-2 start a season ago, the Giants are off to their worst start since 2019 as they suffered their eighth loss in a 49-17 beatdown at the hands of the Cowboys in Week 10.

With playoffs all but out of the equation this year, the G-Men are likely to be in prime position to have a top five selection in the 2024 NFL Draft.

The Commanders nearly pulled off the upset on the road against the Seahawks last week, but lost 29-26 on a last-second 49-yard field goal from Seattle's Jason Meyers as time expired.

Our prognosticators are: Art Stapleton (Giants/NFL writer, NorthJersey.com), Bert Bainbridge (sports betting analyst/columnist, NorthJersey.com), Steve Edelson (columnist, APP.com), Vince Mercogliano (Rangers/NHL columnist, lohud.com), Brian Marron (digital producer, NorthJersey.com), Chris Iseman (Rutgers writer, NorthJersey.com), Dave Rivera (sports editor, USA Today Northeast/NorthJersey.com) and Bob Jordan (sports editor, Asbury Park Press/APP.com).

Here are the current standings through Week 10 for our staff members:

Mercogliano: 9-1

Rivera, Marron & Iseman: 8-2

Edelson & Bainbridge: 7-3

Stapleton: 5-5

Jordan: 4-4

While no one picked the Giants to beat the Cowboys as 17-point underdogs last weekend, will our experts pick them to pull off the upset as a double-digit underdog in Washington?

Here are our staff picks for this NFC East matchup in Week 11:

Art Stapleton

The Giants just beat Washington four weeks ago. How much has changed in four weeks? The oddsmakers believe they'll lose by double digits Sunday. In previous seasons, no matter how poorly Big Blue was playing, you could always count on a big performance at FedEx Field. I'm not sure where this current team stands, however. From injuries to on-field struggles and perceived strained relationships on the sideline, nothing is going right for Brian Daboll's side right now.

Toss in the fact that undrafted rookie Tommy DeVito will get his second consecutive start, and the Giants have a lot to prove if they are going to compete and win in this spot.

The pick: Commanders 24, Giants 13

Bert Bainbridge

The Giants have been decimated the last two weeks, surrendering 79 points and giving up a whopping 974 combined total yards to the Raiders and Cowboys.

While the G-Men got the best of Sam Howell in Week 7, I expect the Commanders' signal caller and current leader in passing yards in the NFL to have a bounce back performance here as the Giants' continue their free fall with injuries now impacting both sides of the ball.

The pick: Commanders 28, Giants 17

Vince Mercogliano

I'm not sure if I see the Giants winning another game this season − and that might just be the best thing for them.

The pick: Commanders 22, Giants 10

Feels like everybody is looking toward 2024 already and which QB the Giants will take with their top pick. But they still have seven games to play, seven chances to see which players are going to be part of their long-term plan. Wins and losses aside, it's time to see who wants to show up each week.

The pick: Commanders 23, Giants 17

Steve Edelson

Undrafted rookie quarterback Tommy DeVito makes his second start after throwing for 86 yards in a blowout loss to Dallas. The Giants have lost their last two by an average of 26 points, and it’s not getting better.

The pick: Commanders 17, Giants 3.

Brian Marron

With Tommy DeVito starting again at QB, the Giants will most likely again struggle to generate much offense while the game is still competitive.

While Sam Howell and the Commanders are not a great offense, they are still a middle-of-the-pack unit in most major categories. Washington should be able to score enough points to get a win against a Giants defense that was gashed for 79 points combined the last two weeks.

The pick: Commanders 27, Giants 6

Bob Jordan

Commanders have yet to cover at home this season so at best a narrow loss for the G-men?

The pick: Commanders 19, Giants 16

Chris Iseman

It's hard to have any confidence in the Giants right now.

The pick: Commanders 20, Giants 7
