The numbers behind 2024 KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship at Harbor Shores

BENTON HARBOR, Mich. — The Kitchen Aide Senior PGA Championship tees off on Thursday at Harbor Shores Golf Club and runs through Sunday of Memorial Day Weekend.

Here's a look at some notable numbers associated with this year's tournament:

The number of KitchenAid Senior PGA Championships remaining to be played at The Golf Club of Harbor Shores. In February, title sponsor Whirlpool announced the tournament will not be returning in 2026.

Number of golfers in field who have won the Western Amateur at Point O’Woods Golf & Country Club down the road in Millburg. They are Chris DiMarco, who won the 1988 championship, and Justin Leonard, who won back-to-back titles there in 1992 and ’93.

Number of times the KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship has been played at Harbor Shores. England’s Roger Chapman won the first in 2012 followed in 2014 by Scotland’s Colin Montgomerie (he won the 2015 title at French Lick), then Rocco Mediate (2016) and England’s Paul Broadhurst (2018). After COVID-19 cancelled the 2020 event, New Zealand’s Steven Alker won in 2022 but withdrew from this year’s field.

Number of players in the field who are members of the World Golf Hall of Fame: Padraig Harrington (2024), Retief Goosen (2019), Colin Montgomerie (2013), Ernie Els (2011), Jose Maria Olazabal (2009), Vijay Singh (2005) and Bernhard Langer (2001).

Number of Ryder Cup team captains in the field (four for United States and seven for Europe). The Americans are Steve Stricker (2021), Jim Furyk (2018), Corey Pavin (2010) and Tom Lehman (2006). The seven Europeans are Ireland’s Padraig Harrington (2021), Thomas Bjorn of Denmark (2018), Darren Clarke of Northern Ireland (2016), Paul McGinley of Ireland (2014), Jose Maria Olazabal of Spain (2012), Colin Montgomerie of Scotland (2010) and Bernhard Langer of Germany (2004).  The winning-team coaches include Stricker, Bjorn, McGinley, Olazabal, Montgomerie and Langer.

The number of senior major championships won by Bernhard Langer of Germany. Winner of two Masters during his under-50 days, the 66-year-old Langer has won four Senior Open Championships, three Senior Players Championships, two U.S. Senior Opens, two Regions Tradition titles and one Senior PGA (2017 at Trump National).

Kenny Perry shot the first in the final round of the 2012 tournament to finish in ninth place. Rocco Mediate shot the second in the opening round of the 2016 tournament he won.

1937

The year of the first Senior PGA Championship which was played in 1937 at the Augusta National Golf Club, home of the Masters. It was a 54-hole stroke-play championship and was won by Jock Hutchinson of the United States on Dec. 2, 1937.

Square feet of green at the par-5, 535-yard 10th hole — the largest green on the course — where course designer Jack Nicklaus made a 102-yard putt which broke a couple of times going up two tiers to the hole during the ceremonial opening round played by him and fellow World Golf Hall of Fame members Johnny Miller (who had initially drawn a wedge to play his shot), Tom Watson and the late Arnold Palmer on Aug. 10, 2010.
