It's now the Isleta New Mexico Bowl as annual football game lands new title sponsor

Sep. 15—The 18th playing of Albuquerque's annual postseason college football bowl game this December will have a new name.

The New Mexico Bowl and ESPN Events, which owns the bowl game, announced on Friday a multi-year partnership with the Pueblo of Isleta on a multi-year title sponsorship agreement, which will now be known as the Isleta New Mexico Bowl.

"We are very excited about expanding our longstanding relationship with Isleta, a world-class destination that makes so many positive contributions to our community," New Mexico Bowl Executive Director Jeff Siembieda said in a news release. "The Isleta brand is highly respected in our state and we are looking forward to growing the Isleta New Mexico Bowl together in the years ahead."

Financial terms for the agreement were not disclosed, but it is a four-year agreement and Isleta will have some exposure in other ESPN-owned events in addition to game played Dec. 16 at University Stadium, which is broadcast nationally on ESPN and ESPN Radio.

The New Mexico Bowl has held its annual luncheon at Isleta for the past decade and has been an active participant and sponsor in the bowl game and festivities around it for more than a decade.

"We are honored to introduce the world to New Mexico," said Isleta Governor Max Zuni. "By investing in the Isleta New Mexico Bowl, we create an opportunity for tourism and commerce that will benefit our economy and people."
