Notre Dame a player for star New Jersey defensive back

The state of New Jersey has been good to Notre Dame over the years.  Several players who blossomed into Irish stars came from the Garden State, including Quenton Nelson, Theo Riddick, Anthony Fasano and scores of others over the years.  Running back Audric Estime and defensive back Adon Shuler are the most recent New Jersey Irish, but could another soon be headed to South Bend?

Defensive back Jaylen McClain has had a relationship with Notre Dame for quite some time and was recently offered.  The 2024 product from Seton Hall Prep talked to our colleagues at Rutgers Wire and shared his thoughts on the Irish.

“Notre Dame has been on me since my freshman year, obviously the offer came a little late but they did it the right way, getting to know me and taking their time to develop a relationship,” McClain said. “It’s great to know that Notre Dame wants that relationship with me.”

247Sports ranks McClain as a three-star prospect and the 22nd best safety in the 2024 class.  ESPN is a bit higher on him currently as they rank him as the No. 157 player in the nation and a four-star recruit.
