Notre Dame’s Chris Tyree makes award list following position change

So far, so good for Notre Dame football and Chris Tyree’s positional change that happened following the 2022 season.

For Tyree’s first three years, he was a running back, but since the Irish have an abundance of talent at that position, the offseason move to wide receiver was made.

By all accounts, the positional switch has gone well, especially considering that Notre Dame needed more talent at wide receiver. It has gone so well that Tyree was named to the Paul Hornung Award watch list, given out annually to the most versatile player in college football.

Hornung played for the Irish from 1954-1956, winning the Heisman in his final season and being named as a 1st team All-American in 1955 and 1956 while playing both ways, as a halfback and safety.
