Norwalk's Daniels is All-Ohio second team

Nov. 15—COLUMBUS — For a third time in her career, Norwalk High School girls soccer standout Nyah Daniels was recognized among the best in the state.

Daniels was named to the Division II All-Ohio second team on Monday, the Ohio Scholastic Soccer Coaches Association announced on Monday.

Daniels finished with 36 goals and eight assists this season for the Truckers (8-6-2). Her 144 career goals will unofficially put her fourth all-time in OHSAA history in the category.

As a sophomore in 2019, Daniels finished with 40 goals, then surged up to 45 goals in 2020. Her 45 goals in a season are unofficially the 14th-most in OHSAA history, and her 40 goals are tied for 19th-most in the state records, against just 54 players listed currently in scoring 40-plus goals in a season in Ohio. Only 44 players have 110-plus career goals.

Daniels was a three-time SBC Lake Division Most Outstanding Performer. The Truckers went 47-14-6 (.746 winning percentage) in her four seasons, which included a 35-match unbeaten streak in SBC Lake play that led to three league titles.

On Sunday, Daniels and teammate Lana Oglesby represented Norwalk at the OSSCA North Central Ohio District All-Star match in Ashland. Playing in a couple inches of snow, Daniels scored twice to earn MVP honors, while Oglesby was awarded a $1,000 academic scholarship by the NCO district coaches.

Also earning All-Ohio honors on Monday was Edison's Walker Cisco in Div. II, who also earned second team honors.
