Northwestern’s Ryan Smith to coach Cardinals’ CBs

Names of defensive coaches are beginning to emerge for the Arizona Cardinals. Defensive coordinator Nick Rallis was announced and presented to the media on Wednesday.

The Cardinals are reportedly adding a cornerbacks coach from the college ranks.

According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, the Cardinals’ new cornerbacks coach will be Ryan Smith, the cornerbacks coach for Northwestern University.

Smith started coaching at Penn State in 2015 for two years as a defensive graduate assistant.

In 2017-2018, he was the secondary coach for Elon Unversity.

In 2019, he was the safeties coach and pro scouting liaison for James Madison and then was cornerbacks coach and passing game coordinator for Virginia Tech.
