Northridge's girls claim Carmon Cripe title

Northridge won the championship of the girls meet Saturday at the Carmon Cripe Relays.

The Raiders finished with 60.5 points, while second place Concord totaled 58.5.

Northridge got first place showings from Lily Vasil in the pole vault (9-0) and from its distance medley relay team of Hadley Troyer, Shali Miller, Isabel Snyder and Dakota Moore. That foursome finished with a time of 13:06.

Jimtown's Brooklyn King finished first in the shot put (35-8), Concord's Lia Davis finished first in the high jump (5-0) and NorthWood's Hannah Chupp placed first in the 100 hurdles (16.51).

In the boys meet, Northridge placed second with 75 points, which was a point less than champion Angola.

The Raiders got first place performances from Xavier Miller in the 1,600 (4:28), from its 400 relay team of Glenn Woods, Isaiah Rodzankas, Jacob Wetzel and Mikey Squiers (44.50) and from its 1,600 relay team of Max Estep, Jason Bauta, Jaden Fisher and David Gingerich (3:32).

Others from the area that finished first were Elkhart's Nicholas Edwards in the high jump (6-3), NorthWood's Hayden Lechlitner in the 110 hurdles (16.09) and his teammate Gavin Rulli in the long jump (19-4.25), along with Goshen's Aaron Anglemyer in the discus (134-11).

At the Cavemen Classic, Penn finished first with 699 points, while Elkhart was second with a 575.50 score.

Elkhart's Max Malloy was a triple winner (1,600, 3,200, 3,200 relay) and his teammate Aaron Richter was a double winner (800, 3,200 relay).

Elijah Coker was a triple winner for Penn (200, long jump, 400 relay).

Kiyla Eberhart had two hits, scored twice and stole three bases, as Jimtown came from behind to beat Concord, 8-6, in softball action on Saturday.

Concord led 5-3 at the end of one inning and 6-5 after four. But the Jimmies scored the game's final three runs to get the victory. Cheyenne Collins had three hits for the Minutemen.

On Friday, Anna Knight tossed a two hitter and Bailey Harris-Rodgers had three hits, as Elkhart topped Goshen, 10-0. Laci Stimac drove in three runs for the Lions.

South Bend Adams scored five runs in the sixth inning to break a 6-6 tie and top Northridge, 11-6. Rachel Humbarger stole four bases for the Raiders.

In baseball action, Max Shreiner's two-out, seventh inning double drove in two runs, as the Elkhart baseball team beat Warsaw, 3-2, in a non-conference game on Saturday.

Brennon Whickcar pitched the first four innings for the Lions and didn't allow a run.

In Hoosier Plains Conference action, Bethany Christian took a doubleheader from Argos, winning 11-0 and 11-3.

In the opener, Tyson Chupp threw a complete game shutout, throwing just 59 pitches in five innings. He also had two hits, including a triple.

In game two, Chupp, Jayden Schlabach and Eliott Borden each had three hits, while Jacoby Reinhardt struck out 12 in six innings to get the win.

Concord split a doubleheader Saturday against Manchester, as the Minutemen won the opener, 14-7, and lost game two, 5-1.

In the victory, Enmanuel Rosa had two hits, including a homer, and drove in two runs for the Minutemen.

NorthWood got two hits and two RBIs from Connor Reed in a 9-2 win over Fairfield.

Goshen split a doubleheader with LaPorte, with the RedHawks winning, 10-4, and the Slicers winning, 3-2.

In Goshen's win, Quinn Shreiner-Landes and Kaden Witty each collected two htis and two RBIs.

Collin Yoder had two hits and two RBIs to lead Northridge past Westview, 10-7.

Penn got two hits, including a homer, and three RBIs from RJ Cromartie in an 8-2 triumph over Crown Point.

Jimtown went 3-0 over the weekend, picking up a pair of wins over Southwood (9-1 and 10-0) and a victory over LaVille (13-2).

Brodric Kaler finished with two hits and three RBIs in the win over LaVille.

Dalton Cook had two hits and two RBIs in the 9-1 win over Southwood and Kahne Kelley totaled two hits and two RBIs in the 10-0 triumph.

In Fairfield's 10-0 win over Central Noble on Saturday, Landon Miller tossed a two-hitter and struck out seven. Cohen Yoder had two hits and three RBIs for the Falcons and Michael Slabaugh finished with two hits, including a homer, and drove in two runs.

In tennis action, Northridge finished second to Warsaw on Saturday at the Warsaw Invitational.

Jaycie Cress went 3-0 on the day and was the champion at No. 2 singles for the Raiders. Saige Wheatley (No. 1 singles and Sage Granberg (No. 3 singles) each went 2-0, as did the No. 2 doubles team of Ava Schrock and Catherine Miller.

On Friday, Northridge got singles wins from Wheatley, Cress and Granberg in a 5-0 win over Elkhart.

At the West Noble Invitational, Bethany Christian's Morgan Chupp and Cori Chupp were the number two doubles champion.

In golf, led my medalist Brayden Miller, who shot a 72, Fairfield came away with Goshen Invitational title on Saturday.

The Falcons totaled a 337, which edged out runner-up Northridge by two strokes.

Elkhart's Steven Webb finished third individually with a 78, while Northridge's Coby Hochstetler was fourth with an 82.
