Northern Section baseball playoff brackets released for Divisions II and III
Baseball playoff brackets for Divisions II and III were released Friday by the Northern Section.
Play begins Tuesday in those divisions, while the remaining three brackets (IV through VI) will be released later this week when regular-season play wraps up. Brackets for each division can be found on MaxPreps and will be updated as the lower divisions are populated.
The Division II bracket features first-round matchups between No. 3 Red Bluff and No. 6 Shasta as well as No. 4 Foothill and No. 5 Las Plumas. Those games are slated for 4 p.m.
The first round is a single-elimination game and is scheduled for Tuesday. The winners head into a four-team double-elimination Super Regional tournament with No. 1 seed Chico and No. 2 Pleasant Valley starting Friday.
The Red Bluff-Shasta winner plays Chico while the Foothill-LP winner takes on PV on Friday.

The losers of those games play one another at 10 a.m. Tuesday in an elimination game. Following that game, Friday’s two winners play with the victor advancing to the Northern Section title game on May 18 and the loser playing the 10 a.m. winner.
That game will be played at 4 p.m. with the winner advancing to the title game.
Section finals are scheduled for either Butte College or Tiger Field in Redding. The breakdown of games at each site will be identified next week.

The Division III seedings are No. 1 Lassen and No. 2 Gridley with byes. First-round games feature No. 3 Orland hosting No. 6 Yreka and No. 4 West Valley hosting No. 5 Central Valley.
The same Super Regional scenario plays out in D-III as well with Lassen hosting the four-team tournament.
The CV-WV winner takes on Lassen while either Orland or Yreka would play Gridley.
