Northern Colorado names Tad Boyle to athletics Hall of Fame

Greeley native Tad Boyle was named to the University of Northern Colorado’s 2022 Hall of Fame class on Thursday.

After beginning his tenure at UNC with a 4-24 record in 2006-07, Boyle led the Bears to a 25-8 record and a CollegeInsider.com Postseason Tournament quarterfinals appearance during his final season in 2009-10.

He also brought in a few of Northern Colorado’s best all-time players and helped form a fundraising program (h/t Jadyn Watson-Fisher of the Greeley Tribune):

His other accomplishments include recruiting Devon Beitzel, Yahosh Bonner and three other All-Big Sky selections. Beitzel would become a UNC Hall of Fame honoree and Big Sky MVP, while Bonner was the 2009-10 Big Sky Defensive Player of the Year.

While at UNC, Boyle helped create the Roundball Club to help fundraise for the program and athletic department as a whole.

Boyle’s success at Northern Colorado ultimately helped him land his current job at CU in 2010. And now 12 years later, he is spending this summer as the head coach of USA Basketball’s U18 National Team, which is 3-0 so far in the FIBA U18 Americas Championship.
