North Eugene's Francesca Tomp looking for third 5A girls golf state title

The 2024 OSAA girls and boys golf state championships will be played Monday and Tuesday at various locations across the state.

The Class 6A and 5A girls tournaments will be held at Trysting Tree Golf Club in Corvallis. The girls 4A/3A/2A/1A tournament will be at Tokatee Golf Club in Mckenzie Bridge.

Class 6A and 5A boys tournaments will be held at Quail Valley Golf Club in Banks, while boys 4A and 3A/2A/1A will be at Emerald Valley Golf Club in Creswell.

Here's a roundup of Eugene-area golfers hoping to swing to a title.

North Eugene's Francesca Tomp looking for third state title

North Eugene's Francesca Tomp will be trying to accomplish something that only eight other Oregon girls golfers have ever managed.

The junior will be trying to win her third straight individual 5A state championship. She will be accompanied by the Highlanders girls' team, which qualified as district champions.

Thurston's Olivia Grandberry will be another one to watch in the 5A tournament after she qualified for state as an individual with a 79 at districts. As a junior, Grandberry finished tied for fourth at state last year.

In the 4A/3A/2A/1A, the Marist girls team also qualified for this year's state tournament with senior Esha Reddy leading the team after she shot a 75 at districts.

Reddy finished tied for fourth as a junior at state last year.

On the boys side, South Eugene's Owen Davis-Piger is expected to contend for an individual title in the 6A tournament. As a junior, he finished tied for third at state last year.

Thurston's Peyton Wiedenmann will be one to watch in the 5A boys tournament. The senior is hoping to build off of his 11th place finish at state last year.

The Colts boys team also qualified for state as district champions.
