North Carolina picks up commitment from former USC running back

Mack Brown and the North Carolina Tar Heels got some good news regarding their offense for the 2024 season on Thursday.

After showing interest in USC running back Darwin Barlow when he entered the transfer portal, it didn’t take long for him to show interest back. And now, he ended his new recruitment by picking North Carolina.

Barlow made the announcement on Thursday night via a social media post on X (formerly Twitter), saying he has committed to the Tar Heels as a graduate transfer with one year left of eligibility.

Barlow originally committed to TCU where he spent two seasons there in 2019 and 2020. From there, he transferred to USC and played the last three seasons with the Trojans.

The running back had his most productive season in 2020, rushing for 428 yards and 4 touchdowns.

He’s a much-needed addition to UNC’s backfield which lost a few players to the transfer portal. They do bring back Omarion Hampton who was one of the best running backs in the country last season.
