No. 12 Texas wrapped up a holiday trip to the Virgin Islands on Saturday with a 76-44 win over South Florida.

The 32-point win closed out a successful weekend for the Longhorns (7-0) at the Paradise Jam tournament in St. Thomas. Texas also recorded 84-42 and 101-39 wins over Arizona State and High Point. The Longhorns have trailed just once this season and have won their seven games by an average of 42.4 points.

It should be noted that Texas has beat up on a bunch of midmajor programs over the first few weeks of the season, and Arizona State was picked to finish last in the Pac-12 in the preseason polls compiled by the conference's coaches and media. The Longhorns were at the Paradise Jam at the same time as No. 3 Colorado and No. 10 North Carolina State, but those two teams competed in a different group.

While chatting with reporters over Zoom after the South Florida win, Texas coach Vic Schaefer acknowledged that tougher tests are ahead. Schaefer, though, said he has been able to get a good evaluation of his team in practices.

"We haven't had any nail-biters probably since we played USC in a closed-door scrimmage, and that was the first one right out of the box," Schaefer said. "But I do know what I'm looking at in practice. I know what I'm looking at in shootarounds. I know how hard our kids are playing.

"We'll obviously have some tougher teams in front of us, but I like what I've seen from an effort (standpoint). Effort and toughness are nonnegotiable for our program, and I like what we've got right now in that area."

Texas point guard Rori Harmon was named the MVP of the Paradise Jam's Reef Division after averaging 11.3 points and distributing 15 assists while committing no turnovers. Forward Taylor Jones also earned a spot on the tournament team.

Texas will return to Moody Center to host Oral Roberts on Wednesday, and then No. 6 UConn will come to town on Sunday.
