NJ high school field hockey: Shore Conference stars from Week 4

The Asbury Park Press is highlighting the top Shore Conference field hockey performances each week during the 2023 season.

Here are those stars from Week 3: This week's stars include one who helped her team break a five-year, 70-match winless streak.

Bernadette Usi, Lakewood

Usi, a junior forward, scored a goal in the first quarter to give the Piners a 1-0 win over Keyport that enabled them to break a 70-match winless streak that date back to a 1-0 win over Trinity Hall on Oct. 22, 2018. Lakewood had gone 0-69-1 since. The tie came on Oct. 7, 2022, when it drew Pemberton 0-0. That draw snapped a 54-match losing streak.

Caroline DeKenipp, Point Pleasant Boro

A senior forward/midfielder and Rutgers University-recruit, DeKenipp scored two goals in the No. 1 ranked Panthers' 3-1 win at No. 2 ranked Shore.

Teagan Harmon, Shore

Harmon, a junior goalkeeper, had 15 saves in the Blue Devils' 3-2 overtime win over Haddonfield and 17 saves against Point Pleasant Boro.

Reagan Scime, Manasquan

A senior forward/midfielder, Scime had two goals and two assists in Manasquan's 5-0 win over Jackson Memorial and two goals in Manasquan's 3-0 win over Colts Neck.

June Reichenbecher, Colts Neck

A sophomore goalkeeper, Reichenbecher had 14 saves in the Cougars 2-1 win over Wall and nine in Colts Neck's 1-0 win over Sayreville.

Reese Lydon, Rumson-Fair Haven

Lydon, a freshman forward, scored two goals in the Bulldogs' 4-2 win over Toms River North

Caroline Bedetti, Middletown North

A junior midfielder, Bedetti had four goals in the Eagles' 6-1 win over Holmdel and a goal in Middletown South's 2-0 win over Middletown North.

Emma Riccardi, Monmouth

Riccardi, a sophomore midfielder, had the game-winning goal in overtime and two goals in all in the Falcons' 3-2 win over Jackson Memorial.

Brooke McGinley, Lacey

A sophomore, McGinley had two goals in the Lions' 3-0 win over Brick Memorial and a goal in Lacey's 6-1 win over Jackson Liberty.

Ellie Kopec, Red Bank Catholic

Kopec, a senior midfielder, had two goals in the Caseys' 5-0 win over Matawan and goals in Red Bank Catholic's 2-1 and 4-0 wins over Raritan.
