NHL Three Stars: Hutton blanks Flyers; Nelson plays OT hero for Isles

No. 1 Star: Carter Hutton, St. Louis Blues

Hutton made 26 saves and Paul Stastny and Kenny Agostino supplied the goals as the Blues blanked the Philadelphia Flyers 2-0. The shutout was Hutton’s third in his last six starts and seventh of his career. Agostino’s last NHL goal came on April 4, 2014.

No. 2 Star: Brock Nelson, New York Islanders

Nelson’s second of the night came in overtime to help give the Islanders a 6-5 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs. New York is now 6-0-2 in their last eight games at Barclays Center. Josh Bailey recorded a goal and two assists to join Nelson in the three-point club. Nelson now has six points in his last four games.

No. 3 Star: Pavel Zacha, New Jersey Devils

Zacha set up birthday boy Adam Henrique to open the scoring in the first period and then put home a goal of his own to break the 1-1 tie for good as the Devils got by the Buffalo Sabres 2-1. The goal was the first game-winning tally of his career.

Honorable Mention: St. Louis came out with the win despite managing only a single shot in the first period and four in the third … All five goals scored by the Maple Leafs tonight were scored by rookies … Auston Matthews now leads all NHL rookies with 24 goals … Zach Hyman scored his third shorthanded goal of the season for the Leafs … Andrew Ladd scored his fourth goal in his last six games … New Jersey’s win snapped their seven-game home losing streak … Robin Lehner made 37 saves in a losing effort … Tyler Ennis went all spin-o-rama for this pretty goal:
