NHL roundup: Stamkos has career day in Lightning's SO win

Steven Stamkos finished off his first career five-point performance with the game-deciding goal in the Tampa Bay Lightning's 7-6 shootout win over the Philadelphia Flyers at Amalie Arena in Tampa, Fla., on Saturday.

The Lightning won the shootout 2-0, getting goals from Stamkos and Brayden Point.

Stamkos and Victor Hedman each had a pair of goals in regulation. Dan Girardi and J.T. Miller also scored. NHL leading scorer Nikita Kucherov, returning after missing two games, and Stamkos had three assists apiece. Hedman had two.

Nolan Patrick, Jakub Voracek, Robert Hagg, Jori Lehtera, Ivan Provorov and Claude Giroux scored for Philadelphia.

Capitals 5, Maple Leafs 2

Alex Ovechkin scored his league-leading 40th goal and Washington beat Toronto in an outdoor game at Navy-Marines Corps Memorial Stadium in Annapolis, Md.

Evgeny Kuznetsov, Nicklas Backstrom and John Carlson each had a goal and two assists for Washington, which has won three of its last four games.

Zach Hyman and Nazem Kadri had goals for the Maple Leafs, who have dropped three straight on the current four-game road trip.

Bruins 2, Canadiens 1 (OT)

Brad Marchand scored the decisive goal with 2:54 left in overtime to give host Boston a season series sweep of rival Montreal with a come-from-behind win.

It was the 10th career game-winning OT goal for Marchand, who took the puck and skated around the back of the Canadiens' net, firing his wrist shot from directly in front of the crease past goalie Antti Niemi.

Marchand's goal was his 25th of the season, and Jake DeBrusk also scored for the Bruins. Anton Khudobin made 27 saves to help Boston win its third straight game. Brendan Gallagher scored the only goal for the Canadiens, and Niemi had a season-high 48 saves.

Penguins 3, Islanders 2 (OT)

Sidney Crosby scored with 72 seconds left in overtime, lifting Pittsburgh over visiting New York.

Crosby gained the puck in the right circle and deked goaltender Christopher Gibson. Crosby then fired a slap shot under the goalie's pads as New York defenseman Adam Pelech was hesitant in providing coverage.

Patric Hornqvist and Derick Brassard scored for the Penguins. Brandon Davidson and Anders Lee scored for the Islanders, whose losing streak reached a season-high six games.

Blackhawks 5, Kings 3

Jonathan Toews scored the tiebreaking goal with 1:58 to go in the third period, and Chicago rallied to beat host Los Angeles.

Jordan Oesterle, Artem Anisimov, Vinnie Hinostroza and Patrick Kane also scored for the Blackhawks, who erased a two-goal deficit in the third period. Anisimov, Hinostroza, Toews and Kane all scored in the final 10 minutes to spark the comeback.

Chicago ended a two-game losing streak and won for only the fourth time in its past 15 contests. Los Angeles boasted a 20-1-1 record when leading after two periods until Saturday's third-period collapse.

Stars 3, Blues 2 (OT)

Jamie Benn found the net off an assist from Tyler Seguin with 1:56 remaining in overtime to lift Dallas to a come-from-behind victory over visiting St. Louis.

Dallas improved to 4-4-1 in its past nine games following a five-game winning streak.

The Blues are 1-6-2 in their past nine games after going 6-2-0 in their previous eight contests.

Coyotes 2, Senators 1

Jordan Martinook's late second-period goal ended up the game-winner and goalie Antti Raanta made 23 saves as host Arizona beat Ottawa.

Martinook broke a 1-1 tie at 14:08 of the middle frame when he took advantage of porous Ottawa defensive play. Martinook set up shop alone in front of the net and, after getting a pass from Brad Richardson, made no mistake with the golden chance.

Ottawa's Jean-Gabriel Pageau opened the scoring at 3:24 of the first period by taking advantage of a Coyotes defensive breakdown. Oliver Ekman-Larsson tied the game with 1:14 left in the first period.
