Nathan MacKinnon lists Nova Scotia home for nearly $6 million

Colorado Avalanche superstar Nathan MacKinnon has already cashed in with an eight-year, $100.8 million contract extension that kicks in next season but he could soon be adding even more money to his bank account.

MacKinnon’s lakefront Nova Scotia property has been listed for sale, giving its next owner the chance to become Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby’s neighbour. This opportunity is available to whomever can put together the asking price of $5.95 million Canadian to purchase the 4,500 square feet property in a private gated community.

The house includes three bedrooms, four full baths and one half bath, and a recreational room boasting a wet bar and walk-in wine room. There is a pool out back for the warm summers in the Maritimes, but nothing beats the massive garage renovated into a home gym with a waterfront view. MacKinnon, a noted health nut, spared no expense when it came to his workout venue.

The home also has 2,000 square feet of patio space, making it ideal for entertaining. There is also a built-in sauna in the gym and a putting green out back.

“Nestled on just over 2 acres of nature-provided privacy, this home boasts over 4,500 square feet of elegance,” is how realtor David Dunn describes the location of the home.

MacKinnon has not commented on if he plans on keeping a home close to his hometown of Halifax or if he is set on establishing a main residence in Denver, even during offseasons.

The 27-year-old Stanley Cup champion is off to a bit of a sluggish start on the ice in 2022-23, scoring just three goals in his first 11 games. The superstar has eclipsed the 30-goal mark in each of his past four full seasons, becoming a perennial Hart Trophy candidate in the process.
