Shutdown Corner - NFL

As a friendly note to Roger Goodell, I'd like to recommend that he add two new topics to the NFL's rookie symposium: potty training and introducing yourself to women while your genitals are not exposed.

A couple of New Orleans Saints may need help in those areas. Here's the report from Danny Monteverde of the Times-Picayune.

Biren Ealy, 24, and Kolomona Kapanui, 25, were arrested just before 1 a.m. at an apartment complex in Elmwood.

Two women had just pulled up to the Palmetto Creek apartments in the 5100 block of Citrus Boulevard when one of the women saw two men urinating in the parking lot, [Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office spokesman Col. John] Fortunato said.

The woman who was the passenger told the men, who appeared to be drunk, to stop. At that point, Ealy allegedly turned around and exposed himself to the woman and started making "lewd" comments, Fortunato said.

A few moments later, Kapanui also turned around, facing the woman driving the car, and started to fondle himself while making comments, as well, police allege.

The women started screaming for help and called 911.

Ealy and Kapanui -- a wide receiver and tight end, respectively -- were taken to the Jefferson Parish Correctional Center. They are each being held on a $4,250 bond, Fortunato said.

I know that NFL teams do a lot of thorough investigating of everyone they draft, and sure, these gentlemen probably displayed good hands. But did anyone bother to see if these two were housebroken? Sometimes, it's the little things.

It's not a huge loss for the Saints. If you've never heard of Ealy or Kapanui, don't sweat it. Neither has anyone else. In fact, the two unfortunate ladies in the car may have seen way more of them than you're ever likely to see. They're both practice squad players who have never seen action in a game with the Saints. And as long as they're doing things like this, I doubt they will.
