NFL RB Leonard Fournette 'blessed' to be OK after his car catches fire

NFL free agent running back Leonard Fournette shared a frightening video to his Instagram on Tuesday.

Fournette's car caught fire while he was driving on the highway. The car's engine is seen charred away with the entire hood, front bumper and grill melted to pieces. The front window is also almost destroyed entirely. Nothing seemed to happen to the back half of his vehicle plus the driver and passenger side. It's unclear what caused the car the catch fire.

Fournette pulled his car to the side of the highway as he recorded the damage. He captioned the video: "Man it was one of those days today, but I would like thank God, my car caught on fire while I was driving, But I’am still blessed 🙏❤️."

In the comment section, various NFL players expressed their gratitude that nothing happened to Fournette. Miami Dolphins cornerback Jalen Ramsey commented a prayer emoji. Denver Broncos defensive end Frank Clark wrote: "Awww hell naw bro I'm thankful! God talkin."

The 28-year-old running back is coming off a season where he ran for 668 yards and three touchdowns. He also had 523 receiving yards and three receiving touchdowns, both career highs. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers' plans to release Fournette were made public in February after he asked to be let go. He was officially released in March after three seasons with the team.

The move came three years after his 300-rushing yard playoff run helped the Bucs win Super Bowl LIV. He served as the go-to back during the majority of Tom Brady's tenure in Tampa Bay. Fournette is still a free agent with NFL training camp set to begin next month.
