NFL mock draft: Marvin Harrison Jr. (almost) everyone's pick for Arizona Cardinals

It's rare that NFL mock drafts come to a consensus on NFL draft picks.

But NFL writers appear to almost have a consensus for the Arizona Cardinals with their first pick in the 2024 NFL draft (Almost. There's a recent NFL draft projection that has Arizona taking a QB).

That near-consensus pick for the Cardinals?

Ohio State wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr.

Recent NFL mock drafts are raving about the receiver's potential fit in Arizona, and the potential of a terrific career in the NFL.

The Athletic: Cardinals take Ohio State WR Marvin Harrison Jr. at No. 2

Dane Brugler writes: "Another embattled quarterback under an organizational microscope: Kyler Murray, as he returns from last season’s injury. Neither Arizona general manager Monti Ossenfort nor head coach Jonathan Gannon drafted Murray or signed him to his lucrative extension, which creates plenty of unknowns for this franchise. But we do know that a trade of Murray is unlikely — who’d trade for that contract? — and cutting him would be easier to stomach a year from now."

Sports Illustrated: Cardinals pick Ohio State WR Marvin Harrison Jr. at No. 2

Luke Easterling writes: "This is the ideal scenario for the Cards, who land the best overall prospect in the draft, and fill one of their biggest needs. They're already financially committed to Kyler Murray, but he needs a true No. 1 receiver to be at his best. Harrison has the talent, polish, and mental prowess to eventually join his dad in Canton."

The 33rd Team: Cardinals land Ohio State WR Marvin Harrison Jr. at No. 2

Connor Livesay writes: "Kyler Murray is auditioning for the remainder of the season, so a quarterback can and should be in play here. With this mock operating without trades, taking the best offensive player available at a position of need is the best option for the Arizona Cardinals in the short and long term. That’s because Murray is playing relatively well, and his large contract ties him to the Cardinals for the foreseeable future."

CBS Sports: Cardinals select Ohio State WR Marvin Harrison Jr. at No. 2

Chris Trapasso writes: "Harrison Jr. is this good ... to be a receiver going No. 2 overall. This would be the earliest a wideout was picked since Calvin Johnson in 2007."

Walter Football: Cardinals go with Ohio State WR Marvin Harrison Jr. at No. 2

It writes: "Mike Jurecki is the best team reporter in the business. He has never gotten anything wrong about the Cardinals as far as I know. He says that if Arizona obtains the No. 1 (or No. 2) pick, it’ll trade out of it and draft Marvin Harrison Jr. to replace DeAndre Hopkins because the team is stuck with Kyler Murray’s contract. Harrison is a 6-foot-4 receiver who happens to be a huge mismatch weapon. He was sorely missed in the college football semi-final versus Georgia when he suffered a concussion."

DraftTek: Cardinals end up with Ohio State WR Marvin Harrison Jr. at No. 3

It writes: "When Kyler Murray was on the shelf for 9 games, we typically mocked QBs Caleb Williams or Drake Maye to the Cards. Our previous mock (after Week 10) saw the return of Murray, and a win against the Falcons. QB in '24? Naw we're good - Marvin Harrison is the perfect compliment. Now here we sit after the Week 12 slate, the team coming off 2 losses including the Rams' blowout. Murray has not looked sharp - just 2 TD passes in 3 games (and 2 picks) and a 79.9 Passer Rating. And he's added 3 scores with his feet. We'll need to monitor his (Murray's) progress over the final 5 games, a slate that features the Eagles, Niners, Steelers and Seahawks. The 5th game against the Bears (Week 16) has interesting implications. Should Justin Fields continue to stack wins, the Bears may choose to lay off the QB position with their #1 overall (courtesy of a trade with Carolina) , which could give the Cards a choice of either Caleb Williams or Drake Maye in April."
