NFL Draft: Breaking down how Rasheed Walker fits with Green Bay Packers

The reigning two-time NFL MVP Aaron Rodgers can only win MVP’s when he is able to stand upright, the Packers drafting Rasheed Walker proves they remain steadfast in building around him.

The Packers have had trouble over the last couple years with their offensive line staying healthy. Rasheed Walker was a very successful, and honestly a very aggressive, tackle for the Nittany Lions. He protected Sean Clifford’s blindside successfully during his tenure while also proving to be a reliable run blocker.

He will be joining a talented offensive line group highlighted by All-Pro David Bakhtiari, Walker will have a chance to learn from him while also working to earn a roster spot. Make no bones about it, being this late of a draft pick guarantees him nothing. He will have to earn his roster spot but he has the talent to do so.

Round 7, Pick 249

Going this late sadly doesn’t mean much for stability for one Rasheed Walker. He will haver to really earn his roster spot on one of the deeper and talented offensive line groups but them drafting Walker shows they see something.

Expected Role

Expected Role: Backup Tackle

He is a project for sure for the Packers, he can learn from an All-Pro tackle and with the professionalism of that team and staff they should make him a good pro. As long as he can make the 53 man roster then he should be okay, he may even serve as a injury fill in if David Bakhtiari foes down again for the titans of the NFC north.

Grading the Fit

Grading the Fit: D+

I will be honest, the only good part of this landing spot if him being around one of the best tackles in the NFL. Other than that, I have serious concerns he can make this 53-man roster when it is all said and done.

Rasheed Walker is going to have to work, he will have to work more than he may have ever before. If he can make this roster then the development he will get and the coaching he will be exposed to will do him wonders. If he doesn’t though then he may find it hard to catch on in a stable spot in the NFL based on how they view him.
