Charissa Thompson, the Fox Sports and Amazon Prime Video host who used to be an NFL sideline reporter, made headlines recently after admitting on the "Pardon My Take" podcast that she would make up quotes from coaches when in her role reporting from the sidelines.

Many sports journalists in the industry spoke out to criticize Thompson, saying in part that her actions not only hurt the reputation of the journalism industry as a whole, but also hurt the reputation of other women in what is still a predominantly male industry.

Lisa Salters, a veteran journalist and sideline reporter for "Monday Night Football" who has covered the Super Bowl in the past posted on X (previously Twitter) that she was "Shocked. Disappointed. Disgusted." at Thompson's actions.

USA TODAY columnists like Christine Brennan and Mike Freeman also weighed in on Thompson's admission.
