Von being Von: Miller's new 'Madden' campaign fits his persona

They didn’t need Von Miller to act much for his goofy “Madden NFL 17” commercial.

Miller is dancing and singing in the loudest outfits imaginable (complete with at least one cowboy hat) in the ad, but that’s his natural state. The Denver Broncos linebacker and Super Bowl 50 MVP might be the freest spirit in the league.

“We wanted to lean into Von’s unique style and incredible dance moves,” Jessica English, global campaign lead at EA Sports. “He showed up to set … and just did what Von does.”

That’s why Miller made sense for “Dancing With the Stars,” in which a whole new audience was treated to Miller’s oddball personality. Everyone in Denver is quite familiar with his strange wardrobe choices, elaborate sack dances and funny nature, and the new “Madden” ad campaign, released Thursday, is just a reflection of that.

English said one reason Miller is spotlighted in the ad campaign — aside from the obvious factor that he’s one of the NFL’s biggest stars on the field — is his “incredibly charismatic personality.” You’ll presumably be seeing Miller dancing a lot on your television during commercial breaks in the upcoming weeks. What you see from him on screen is basically what you’ll get off screen, too.
