UFC Fight Night 29 Weigh-in Results: Maia vs. Shields Set, Thiago Silva Two Pounds Over

The UFC returns to Brazil for UFC Fight Night 29: Maia vs. Shields. The fights take place Wednesday at the Jose Correa Gymnasium in Barueri, São Paulo. But first, the 20 fighters on the card had to step on the scales to make their bouts official.

Demian Maia is making a run at the UFC welterweight championship currently wrapped around Georges St-Pierre‘s waist, while Jake Shields is trying to stop him and propel himself back into the title talk.

Another fight that could impact the welterweight division’s championship discussions is the night’s co-main event between Erick Silva and Dong Hyun Kim. Both men have been impressive, and a victory here would move the winner into the upper echelon.

In a light heavyweight feature fight, Thiago Silva weighed in at 208 pounds for his bout with Matt Hamill. That’s two full pounds over the allowed 206-pound mark for a light heavyweight bout. He was given one hour to drop the two extra pounds.

Hamill stepped on the scale at 205 pounds.
