Florida State QB Jameis Winston is "seriously considering" staying in school, according to multiple sources close to the 2013 Heisman Trophy winner.

Winston hasn’t made any formal declarations, and there are no indications that he has made a concrete decision, but his camp has taken material steps to pave the way for the talented redshirt sophomore to return for at least one more season in Tallahassee, should he ultimately decide to do so, according to one well-placed source.

According to multiple reports, Winston will make his decision sometime after the College Football Playoff national championship on Monday.

The deadline for underclassmen to declare is Jan. 15.

Winston suffered the first loss of his collegiate career in the Rose Bowl on New Year's Day. The Bessemer, Ala., native is now 26-1 as a starter after the Seminoles lost 59-20 to the Oregon Ducks in a College Football Playoff semifinal game.

Winston led Florida State to a national championship last season and has thrown for nearly 8,000 yards and 65 touchdowns in his two years as a starter.
