Sources: Blazers to let Thomas Robinson become free agent after season

The Portland Trail Blazers will let forward Thomas Robinson become an unrestricted free agent next summer, league sources told Yahoo Sports.

The Blazers declined on Monday to pick up the fourth-year option – worth $4.6 million – on Robinson's deal.

Robinson was the fifth overall pick in the 2011 NBA draft, but has been traded twice and been unable to find traction in the NBA. Sacramento drafted Robinson at No. 5 overall, but traded him to the Houston Rockets midway through his rookie season. Houston traded Robinson to Portland in 2012, as part of a plan to clear salary cap space to sign Dwight Howard.

Robinson averaged 4.8 points and 4.4 rebounds in 12 minutes a game for Portland a season ago.
