Richmond 67, Old Dominion 58

Richmond used its intense defense and a strong second half to defeat Old Dominion 67-58 on Saturday night at the Robins Center in Richmond, Va.

Old Dominion led 25-24 at halftime, but Richmond scored the first nine points after intermission to take a lead it would never relinquish.

Richmond (9-4) was led by guard Cedrick Lindsay with 19 points. Guard Kendall Anthony added 17 and forward Alonzo Nelson-Odoba had a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds. It's the first time since Nov. 30 that Nelson-Odoba scored in double figures.

Old Dominion (5-8) got 20 points from Aaron Bacote and 14 from forward Denzell Taylor. But the Monarchs turned the ball over 17 times as compared with seven for the Spiders.

Turnovers helped propel the Spiders to victory on a night when they struggled in other phases of the game.

Richmond shot just 41.8 percent from the field and 25 percent from the free throw line, missing 11 of its 27 foul shots. The Spiders also were outrebounded 40-30.

Old Dominion has lost seven of its last eight games.
