Chicago Rapper Killed After Lil Reese Diss

Marc "Lil Marc" Campbell, an up-and-coming rapper linked to the 051 Young Money gang (not Weezy-affiliated), was murdered over the weekend. Campbell was standing near a bus stop when a gunman shot him in the head then fled in a minivan that was later found abandoned and in flames.

Authorities haven't released a motive for the murder, but many believe it may be retaliation for Lil Marc's "No Competition" music video. In the video, he and others wave firearms and taunt a rival gang called OTF (Only the Family). Authorities are also looking at video of a FaceTime conversation between Lil Marc and fellow Chicago rapper Lil Reese, who in 2012 released a tribute song with Lil Durk dedicated to OTF. The two trade barbs in the short clip, but it's unclear if they actually have a beef.

Inquisitr reports that Lil Marc is the 60th person killed in Chicago since the beginning of the year.

Chief Keef Involved in Shooting at Manager's House

Chief Keef was taken into police custody and questioned by authorities about a shooting that occurred outside his manager's house in Northfield, Ill. His attorney told TMZ he was present, but denied reports that he played any role in the shooting. According to reports, Keef drove the victim to the hospital. The victim is currently in stable condition.

Following the shooting, Northfield police set up a six-block blockade that lasted through the week. Police told MTV News that a special task force has been assembled to investigate the crime. Thus far, neither Keef nor anyone else who was at the house during the shooting has been charged.

Migos Involved in Highway Shooting in Miami

Atlanta-based rap trio Migos was involved in a shootout on Miami's I-195 on March 28.

"As they were driving back on I-95, according to statements, a dark vehicle pulled alongside and basically opened fire on them," Florida Highway Patrol spokesman Joe Sanchez told 7News. "One of the passengers in [Migos's] van was in possession of a handgun and exchanged gunfire with the other vehicle. Apparently, in the exchange of gunfire, one individual inside [the] van was struck in the leg."

The motive behind the shooting is unclear, although reports suggest it could be the result of a failed performance at Club Iguana in Broward, Fla. The club has since denied that the group was slated to perform. There are also conflicting reports on the identity of the shooting victim. TMZ claims it was the group's bodyguard.

Benzino Shot at Mother's Funeral

One-time rapper Benzino was shot by his cousin. According to reports, the entertainer was in town to pay his respects to his mother, who had died a week earlier. Due to conflicts with other family members, he decided against attending the funeral and instead privately mourned at a funeral home. But as he was driving to pick up Stevie J, his co-star on VH1's "Love & Hip-Hop: Atlanta," he mistakenly ran into the funeral procession and was shot at repeatedly by his cousin, Gai Scott.

In a police report, Scott claims that he shot at Benzino in self-defense as the rapper had been threatening him in recent weeks. After being hit, Benzino ran out to his mother's hearse seeking assistance, but the vehicle drove on. Another relative in the procession picked him up and drove him to the hospital, where he was treated and eventually released.
