Press Box: Oklahoma State's Randle enters draft

Oklahoma State junior running back Joseph Randle is declaring for the NFL Draft. NFLDraftScout.com has Randle ranked as the fifth-best running back in the 2013 class. He is projected as a second- or third-round pick.

"I want to thank all of #CowboyNation for the best 3 years of my life," Randle posted on Twitter. "Also to the best coaches in the nation for this opportunity."

This season, Randle was one of four unanimous selections to the All-Big 12 first team. He finished with 274 receptions for 1,417 yards and 14 touchdowns.

Texas wide receiver Mike Davis also will enter the draft. Davis, who had 57 receptions for 939 yards and seven touchdowns this season, is ranked the 21st-best wide receiver in the draft class by NFLDraftScout.com.

COLLEGE BASKETBALL

Duke senior forward Ryan Kelly is out indefinitely due to a right foot injury, coach Mike Krzyzewski announced Wednesday night. Kelly was hurt Tuesday in the top-ranked Blue Devils' 68-40 rout of Clemson at Cameron Indoor Stadium.

Kelly is averaging 13.4 points and 5.4 rebounds per game this season.

MOTORSPORTS

Danica Patrick said that she won't participate in the Indianapolis 500 this season.

Patrick will make her full-time debut in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series with Stewart-Haas Racing and wants to focus on that circuit. To attempt the 500, she would have to compete in that race and NASCAR's Coca-Cola 600 on the same afternoon.

She also confirmed to reporters that she's looking to run a partial Nationwide Series season and is in talks with Turner Scott Motorsports.

GOLF

The LPGA announced that it will return to North Texas for the first time in more than two decades.

The North Texas LPGA Shootout is scheduled to be held April 25-28 at Las Colinas Country Club in Irving. Area amateur players will have a chance to qualify for spots. Tournament exemptions will be awarded to the winners of a high school and collegiate "shootout" played ahead of the event.
