Phillies 9, Marlins 5
MIAMI -- Chase Utley drove in three runs to help lead the Philadelphia Phillies to a 9-5 win over the Miami Marlins on Saturday night.
Carlos Ruiz and Pete Orr each drove in two runs, and Jimmy Rollins had three hits and scored twice for the Phillies, who are 79-79 and looking to avoid a losing season for the first time since 2002.
Roy Halladay (11-8) struck out seven and allowed four runs in five innings for the victory.
Giancarlo Stanton drove in three runs and hit his 36th home run for the Marlins and second in as many days.
Ricky Nolasco (12-13) took the loss, allowing five runs in five innings for the Marlins, who have lost eight of nine.
Ruiz's two-run double in the seventh inning extended the Phillies lead to 7-4. Utley and Kevin Frandsen added RBI singles to cap the scoring for the Phillies.
Miami trailed 9-5 in the bottom of the ninth and strung together three consecutive singles off Jonathan Papelbon with one out to load the bases. Papelbon got Carlos Lee to pop out and Greg Dobbs to strike out to end the 4-hour, 3-minute affair.
The Phillies led 5-4 through five innings.
Miami got to Halladay immediately as the first three batters reached base loading the bases for Stanton, returned to the lineup Friday after missing nine games with an oblique strain.
Stanton hit a two-run single to center and three batters later Rob Brantley pushed the Marlins lead to 3-0 with an RBI single.
The Phillies responded with two runs in the second to pull to 3-2 on a two-run double by Pete.
Stanton drove in his third run of the game with his 36th home run of the season to deep left field to lead off the third. Stanton also homered on Friday off Cliff Lee, which put him second on the club's season list. Gary Sheffield holds the club record with 42 home runs in 1996.
In the fifth, Halladay and Rollins led off with singles. Juan Pierre laid down a sacrifice bunt before Utley hit a two-run single to tie the score at 4.
Domonic Brown tripled to right-center field on a fly ball that took one bounce before hitting the wall, which scored Utley for a 5-4 advantage.
NOTES: Nolasco made his final start of the season and finished with a 4.48 ERA, his lowest since posting a 3.52 ERA in 2008. ... The Phillies will send LHP Cole Hamels (16-6, 3.11 ERA) to the mound in the series finale Sunday to face Marlins RHP Nathan Eovaldi (3-6, 4.42 ERA). Eovaldi is coming off a career-best eight-strikeout game against the Braves. Hamels is 1-3 with a 3.54 ERA against the Marlins this season.
