(Adds final game) Dec 17 (The Sports Xchange) - Highlights of Tuesday's National Hockey League games. - - - Ducks 5, Red Wings 2 The Anaheim Ducks scored four goals in the first period en route to a 5-2 victory over the Detroit Red Wings, their sixth win in a row. Defenseman Sami Vatanen led the way with a goal and an assist, helping the Ducks stay two points behind Chicago for the best mark in the NHL. Nick Bonino, Jakob Silfverberg, Corey Perry and Saku Koivu also scored for Anaheim (24-7-5). Andrew Cogliano had three assists and goaltender Jonas Hiller made 16 saves. - - - Blackhawks 3, Predators 1 Patrick Kane and defenseman Nick Leddy scored power-play goals as Chicago beat the Nashville Predators 3-1. Rookie goaltender Antti Raanta (7-1-1) recorded 27 saves, including 16 in the first period, as the Blackhawks improved their league-best record to 25-7-5. It was the 685th career win for coach Joel Quenneville, moving him out of a tie for fourth-place with Pat Quinn in the NHL all-time list. Nashville (16-15-3) saw their three-game winning streak end. - - - Sharks 4, Blues 2 Joe Pavelski and defenseman Matt Irwin scored first-period goals as the San Jose Sharks jumped on the tired and injury-riddled St. Louis Blues in a 4-2 victory. The Blues did not arrive in St. Louis until about 2 a.m. on Tuesday after playing Monday night in Ottawa and were without three of their top six forwards because of injuries. The win was only the second in their last six games for the Sharks (21-7-6) and gave them a season sweep of all three games with the Blues (22-7-4). - - - Bruins 2, Flames 0 Tuukka Rask stopped 21 shots for his third shutout of the season and defenseman Zdeno Chara scored two power-play goals as the Boston Bruins returned from a four-game road trip with a 2-0 victory over the Calgary Flames. David Krejci and Jarome Iginla assisted on both goals for the Bruins (23-9-2), who got their second win over the Flames in eight days. Boston are 11-3-1 in their last 15 games. - - - Wild 3, Canucks 2 (shootout) Jason Pominville scored the only goal in a shootout, lifting the Minnesota Wild to a come-from-behind 3-2 win over the Vancouver Canucks. The Wild (20-11-5) trailed 2-1 before Charlie Coyle tied the game midway through the third. Zach Parise scored Minnesota's first goal, and goaltender Josh Harding made 29 saves in regulation and overtime. Jannik Hansen and David Booth scored for the Canucks (20-10-6). Vancouver got 30 saves from goalie Roberto Luongo but lost for the first time in December, snapping a seven-game winning streak. - - - Lightning 3, Islanders 2 (shootout) Valtteri Filppula scored two goals in the final 2:53 of regulation then scored in the shootout as the Tampa Bay Lightning completed a stunning comeback to beat the New York Islanders. Nikita Kucherov also scored in the shootout for the Lightning, who clinched the win when goalie Ben Bishop stopped John Tavares on the Islanders' third shot of the shootout. Bishop made 33 saves in regulation for the Lightning (20-11-3). - - - Flyers 5, Capitals 2 Jakub Voracek scored two goals, including a power-play goal 72 seconds after defenseman Mark Streit got one, to help the Philadelphia Flyers beat the Washington Capitals. Matt Read and Wayne Simmonds added goals for the Flyers (15-15-4), who won their seventh straight home game. Dwight King, Jordan Nolan and Dustin Brown scored as Los Angeles (23-8-4) bounced back from a loss in Chicago on Sunday that snapped a season-best six-game winning streak.
