Maple Leafs' Carlton the Bear and The Raptor engulfed in 'Royal Rumble' controversy

Toronto’s sports teams have become notably unified in their support of each other in recent years, but their mascots took friendship to new levels on Sunday night.

During an intermission in Sunday’s Raptors-Pacers game, The Raptor got involved in a ‘Royal Rumble’ of sorts at the Air Canada Centre. Faced with a tag team of the Minnesota Timberwolves mascot and The Boomer from Indiana, The Raptor enlisted the help of none other than Carlton the Bear. The Maple Leafs’s mascot controversially passed the Raptor a plastic chair, which he used to crush his opponents and emerge victorious as Carlton fist pumped in approval.

By the end of night, however, it appeared tensions had cooled with The Raptor posting a photo with the mascot he had previously smacked over the head with a chair.

The showdown was the end of a busy weekend for Carlton. On Saturday, he donned a throwback St. Pats jersey for the Maple Leafs’ game with Chicago.

Carlton also walked away in shame after air-balling a 3-point attempt during warmups at the Raptors game.
