Jon Jones Pleads Guilty to DWI

Jon Jones Isn't Looking for Superfight, but He's Not Afraid of Anderson Silva or Any Man

UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones on Tuesday morning plead guilty to a DWI charge stemming from a car accident on May 19 in Binghamton, N.Y.

Jones drove his 2012 Bentley into a telephone pole. No other vehicles were involved.

He pled guilty to Driving While Intoxicated as part of a plea bargain with the District Attorney’s office in Binghamton City Court, according to WBNG News. Traffic violations for an improper turn and deviating from a direct course were dismissed.

The plea agreement would see Jones receive a fine and a conditional discharge. A conditional discharge means Jones’ sentence will be served as long as probationary conditions are met. If he fails to meet the conditions, the full penalty could be reinstated.

The judge immediately suspended Jones’ New York driver’s license.

Jones will be back in court for sentencing on June 19, and must complete an alcohol abuse and dependency assessment prior to sentencing.
