Jerry Jones: Deion Sanders could defend Calvin Johnson

No one on the Cowboys could check Lions receiver Calvin Johnson on Sunday.

In Detroit's 31-30 win over Dallas, Johnson had 329 receiving yards, good for second-best in a single game in NFL history. None of the Cowboys corners had an answer for Megatron all game.

Jerry Jones, channeling the good ole' days, believes one of his former corners would be up to the task.

Jones said Deion Sanders, in his prime, would be able to shut down Johnson.

"Now, you're talking about the greatest cover guy maybe that's played this game," Jones told radio station KRLD-FM, via ESPN.com. "I've seen where he's been declared the greatest cover guy. Hall of Famer. But I do think he could do a real good job on Johnson. Johnson's going to get some probably, but I think he could do a great job. Deion's a great player."

Sanders offered his take on Twitter, doing his part to remove himself from the conversation of whether he could check Megatron or not.

"Fans it's not fair to compare Then to Now! I realize it's fun and these kids can play but This Ain't THAT. Truth," Sanders wrote.
