Sources: Jazz claim Jordan Hamilton and Joe Ingles off waivers
In an effort to bolster their small forward depth, the Utah Jazz claimed Jordan Hamilton and Joe Ingles off waivers on Monday, league sources told Yahoo Sports.
Hamilton (Toronto Raptors) and Ingles (Los Angeles Clippers) were released in final cuts and will be part of the Jazz’s opening night roster of 15.
Hamilton, 24, played two-plus seasons for Denver before a February trade to the Houston Rockets. During the preseason for the Raptors, Hamilton averaged 9.5 points in 18 minutes per game.
Ingles, an Australian, had been a top player oversas and finally made the move to the NBA this season. The Clippers had released him partly because of an injury at the point guard spot, and league sources said the team had hoped to re-sign him in the near future had he cleared waivers.
The Jazz will release Carrick Felix to make room for Hamilton and Ingles.
Ingles, 27, will join fellow Australian Dante Exum, the No. 4 overall pick in NBA draft, on the Jazz. Ingles had been a mentor and close friend of Exum's in Australia.
