Gordon fined, docked points for Sunday's wreck

Four-time NASCAR champion Jeff Gordon was fined $100,000 and docked 25 points by NASCAR on Monday for intentionally crashing into Clint Bowyer's car at Sunday's Phoenix International Raceway, an incident that led to a brawl in the pits between members of the two teams.

Gordon was also placed on probation for the rest of this year, but he did avoid suspension, so he'll be able to drive Sunday at Homestead-Miami Speedway.

"I take responsibility for my actions on the racetrack," Gordon said in a statement. "I accept NASCAR's decision and look forward to ending the season on a high note at Homestead."

In addition, Rick Hendrick, owner of Gordon's No. 24 car, was docked 25 car owner points, and crew chief Alan Gustafson was placed on probation through the end of the year.

Bowyer crew chief Brian Pattie was fined $25,000 and placed on probation through the end of the year.

Also, Brad Keselowski was fined $25,000 and placed on probation for having an electronic device inside the car - a cell phone.
