Nets’ Royce O’Neale ‘imagined’ as top-3 trade target for Cleveland Cavaliers

Brooklyn Nets forward Royce O’Neale will be battling with Dorian Finney-Smith in training camp about a month from now to be the starting power forward for this upcoming season. If O’Neale does not win the starting forward job, could a trade happen?

Bleacher Report recently wrote an article “imagining” the top-3 trade targets for every team in the NBA. For the Cleveland Cavaliers, one of the targets listed was O’Neale. This choice makes sense for a few reasons that could make a deal between the Nets and Cavaliers take place sooner rather than later.

Brooklyn has a lot of capable forwards on the team and while teams like the Cavaliers would love more depth at that position, the Nets do not have enough minutes to play the aforementioned forwards in question the time that their ability necessitates. After training camp, one of O’Neale or Finney-Smith will be coming off the bench and since both player are starting-level players, it may benefit Brooklyn to consider a trade if a team offers enough.
