Nets’ Nic Claxton available Sunday against Wizards; Ben Simmons is ‘day-to-day’
NEW YORK — The Brooklyn Nets have recently gotten back Cam Johnson from injury after he missed seven games with his left calf strain. With that being said, the Nets will be welcoming back another one of their injured starters whose job is to anchor the paint.
When Brooklyn released its status report on Saturday, starting center Nic Claxton, who has been out for the past eight games with a left ankle sprain, was not listed on the injury report. So, that meant that Claxton is available for Sunday’s matchup against the Washington Wizards. “It’s been awhile since he’s played,” Nets head coach Jacque Vaughn during his pregame availability on Sunday.
However, despite the good news that Brooklyn got with the return of Claxton, the bad news is that Ben Simmons is still out with his left hip issue. Initially, the injury was described as just hip soreness, but on the report, it was listed as a contusion.
This sounds like the injury was either misdiagnosed or had worsened, but Vaughn said that neither was the case. “No, same injury. I guess we’re just a little bit more specific in the reporting, but nothing really to add from the original injury.” Vaughn mentioned that Simmons is considered “day-to-day” and that he is receiving daily treatment for his hip.
