Nets’ Mikal Bridges named Eastern Conference Player of the Week

Brooklyn Nets guard Mikal Bridges has been named the NBA’s Eastern Conference Player of the Week, the league announced on Monday. This is Bridges’ first time winning the prestigious award in either conference. Ever since the former Villanova Wildcat came to Brooklyn, he has been nothing short of a star on both ends of the floor.

For Week 24, according to the NBA, Bridges had an outstanding three games for the Nets. In Brooklyn’s three wins over the Houston Rockets, Atlanta Hawks, and Utah Jazz, Bridges averaged 33 points, 5.7 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and 1.3 steals per game while 50% from the field.

Bridges has been incredible for the Nets to the point that it may be worth wondering if he’ll be an All-Star next season. During his time in Brooklyn, Bridges is averaging 27.6 points per game which would make him the eighth-leading scorer in the league if extrapolated for an entire season. That would place him just behind Cleveland Cavaliers guard Donovan Mitchell (28 PPG) and just ahead of Dallas Mavericks guard Kyrie Irving (27 PPG).
