Nets’ Jacque Vaughn reacts to come-from-behind win over the Raptors

The Brooklyn Nets came back from a 18-point deficit to beat the Raptors for the first season sweep since the 2002-2003 season. It wasn’t easy as the Raptors were applying pressure on both ends of the floor and were frustrating the Nets because of the amount of physicality that the Raptors play with.

In the first half, the Nets got off to a terrible start as they lost the first quarter 29-19 behind just 42% shooting from the field. The Raptors, especially Fred VanVleet were able to get any shot they wanted as the Nets did not rotate well on defense.

As the first half waned, players like Kevin Durant started to be more aggressive and eventually were able to break down the Raptors’ defense to the tune of an 8-0 run to end the first half within 10 points. The second half saw the Nets play with more urgency and defensive intensity. Nets coach Jacque Vaughn gives his reaction on the clutch win:

“Yeah, it’s unbelievable. Huge little stretch for us to get to 10 at halftime, I thought we felt good about ourselves that we didn’t play very well, we could play harder. Then, we came out in the third quarter and really responded. We give awards out for different segments of the game, Nic Claxton was unbelievable in the third quarter. His ability to contain the basketball, to protect the rim for us… a lot of good from a lot of guys.”

The Nets have won a season-high three straight games on the road.
