Nets’ Ben Simmons is ready to ‘dominate’ when he returns to the court

Brooklyn Nets guard Ben Simmons is far removed from when he was considered one of the up-and-coming players in the NBA during his days with the Philadelphia 76ers. While his career has been rocky for the past two seasons, he still has the confidence that once made him an All-Star.

In an interview with Marc J. Spears of Andscape and ESPN, Simmons discussed many topics related to his life, such as returning from his back surgery too soon to play last season. One of the other topics that he addressed his expectations for himself once the regular season begins and the games start counting.

Simmons, 27, played just 42 games in the 2022-23 season before being ruled out in March for the rest of the season due to a nerve impingement in his back. Before being ruled out, Simmons missed a significant amount of games due to a variety of injuries, mostly to his back and knees.

Here’s what Simmons expects of himself for next season:

“For me to come back and dominate people will be great. I don’t intend to come back the same player I was last [season], because that’s not even close to where I am. I get excited because I’m like, ‘Damn, I would [expletive] on the player I was last year.’ But I know where I was at last year, so it’s easy to say that. But it’s just fun to go and do the thing that you love when you’re out there. That’s really it for me. I don’t really ask for too much.”
