Nebraska volleyball defeats Indiana in four sets

The Nebraska volleyball team wrapped up its two-day trip to Indiana with a Saturday night showdown against the Indiana Hoosiers. The Hoosiers had a strong front, winning the first set and hanging with Nebraska in the second set.

But after the Huskers won the second set, they never looked back, winning the following two sets and the match (23-25, 25-23, 25-15, 25-19). Nebraska is now 13-0, making it the best start to the season for the team since 2008.

The Huskers dominated in the match offensively, finishing with 65 kills, 22 more than Indiana, despite each team delivering nearly the same amount of attacks. Merritt Beason and freshman Harper Murray combined for 39 kills off 73 attacks and 17 digs. Beason finished as Nebraska’s leader in kills with a career-high 22 in the match.

Freshman Bergen Reilly surpassed 50 assists in a match once again, reaching 53 in the win. Libero Lexi Rodriguez led the defense, finishing with 18 total digs.

The team’s next match will be on the road in East Lansing, Michigan, to face off against Michigan State on Friday night. The match is set for 6:00 p.m. and can be viewed on B1G+.
