NCAA Tournament projections for Texas Tech basketball ahead of Big 12 Tournament

The 25th-ranked Texas Tech basketball team left no doubt about their NCAA Tournament hopes a while ago. Now it's about letting the Big 12 and other conference tournaments play out to see where the Red Raiders are headed to start their March Madness journey.

Tech closed the regular season Saturday with a win over then-No. 11 Baylor, which put Grant McCasland's team at 22-9 overall, 11-7 in Big 12 play, tied for third in the conference, earning the No. 4 seed in this week's conference tournament and, last but not least, put the Red Raiders back into the national rankings.

The Red Raiders will begin Big 12 Tournament action on Thursday. Regardless of how long they stay in Kansas City, they'll be hearing their name called on Selection Sunday.

Through Sunday's action, Texas Tech had an average of being a 7-seed across all 108 projections tracked by Bracket Matrix.

ESPN: 7-seed (South Region)

Joe Lunardi moved the Red Raiders up to a No. 7 seed on Monday morning and heading back to Indianapolis — where they took on Butler earlier this season — for a matchup with 10-seed Colorado State. Should the Red Raiders make an Sweet 16 appearance in this setup, the Red Raiders would get to play in Dallas, where the regional semifinals and championships will be played.

CBS Sports: 5-seed (East Region)

Jerry Palm of CBS Sports continues to have the highest seed line for the Red Raiders as his Monday projections had Texas Tech as the 5-seed out of the East Region. The Red Raiders would be playing 12-seed James Madison in Pittsburgh with the winner of that game playing the winner of 4-seed Alabama and 13-seed McNeese State. Palm's seeding reflects the highest projected position for the Red Raiders.

Fox Sports: 8-seed

Mike DeCourcy placed Texas Tech as the second No. 8 seed in his Monday projections, coming in at the 30th overall team in the field. Other teams on this seed line include Boise State, Florida Atlantic and Texas. Potential opponents on the 11-seed line include Virginia, TCU, Indiana State, Colorado and Wake Forest.

Field of 68: 7-seed (West Region)

The Field of 68's Monday bracket projection sees the Red Raiders as a 7-seed taking on 10-seed Seton Hall. The winner of that game would challenge 2-seed Arizona or 15-seed Montana.
