The Wilmington area's top two teams will go to war tonight as the No. 11 Laney Buccaneers (10-2) visit the Shipyard to face the No. 3 Hoggard Vikings (11-1).
In a first for Wilmington-area football teams, this playoff matchup represents the culmination of a truly electric season for high school football. While only two remain in Round 3, all four Wilmington schools advanced to the second round of the state playoffs this fall.
The last time these two sides met, Hoggard started fast and never looked back, dropping 49 points on Laney in Week 6 before continuing a winning streak that dates all the way back to Week 2.
Laney enters the matchup on a seven-game winning streak and has won 9 of its last 10.
