NBA Twitter reacts to Lakers holding on for win in Game 1 thriller vs. Warriors
After only one game, the storybook second-round playoff series between the Golden State Warriors and Los Angeles Lakers is already living up to the hype.
Following a flurry of haymakers from each team, Anthony Davis and the Lakers landed the final knockout punch on the way to a road win in Game 1 at San Francisco’s Chase Center over the Warriors, 117-112.
Davis led the Lakers with an impressive performance that featured 30 points on 11-of-19 shooting to go along with 23 rebounds, five assists and four blocks in 44 minutes.
Steph Curry tallied 17 of his 27 points in the fourth quarter to bring the Warriors back into the game, but it was too late against Davis and the Lakers.
Led by six 3-pointers each from Jordan Poole and Steph Curry, the Warriors rained down 21 made triples against the Lakers. However, it wasn’t enough to pace the Lakers and their 29 trips to the free-throw line.
With the Warriors trailing by only 3 points with under 10 seconds remaining in the game, Poole missed a deep jumper after pulling up from way beyond the arc to potentially tie the game.

Warriors went small down 10 with 6:39 left. It worked. They spread it out and shot themselves back into a tie. Overall good Jordan Poole game. But the Lakers size overpowered them late. Walled off the rim. Ten total blocks. Closed on 5-0 run. They steal homecourt in Game 1.
