NBA players react to Patrick Mahomes, Chiefs winning Super Bowl LVII

Patrick Mahomes threw for three touchdowns and battled through a high ankle sprain on Sunday to lead the Kansas City Chiefs to a last-second win over the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LVII.

Mahomes finished with 182 yards passing and 44 more on the ground as the Chiefs overcame a 10-point deficit at halftime to win their second title in four years, 38-35. Kansas City scored on all four of their possessions in the second half to complete their comeback bid.

The Chiefs took the lead early in the fourth quarter, 28-27, after a nine-play, 75-yard drive that ended with a touchdown catch by Kadarius Toney. They scored again on their next possession to go up 35-27 with 9:22 to go in the game.

Philadelphia responded with a touchdown and two-point conversion four minutes later to tie the game up with 5:15 left to play. Mahomes and the Chiefs managed to run the clock down to set up the game-winning field goal by Harrison Butker with eight seconds left.

Mahomes, the NFL’s Most Valuable Player during the regular season, was named the MVP of the Super Bowl to become the first player in NFL history to win multiple titles and multiple MVPs within his first six seasons in the league.
